No, not as standard. We are open to making small changes to your unit if you're looking at going 100% off-grid i.e. Gas cooking. We do not supply nor install composting units or solar. You will need to organise that yourself once the unit is on-site.

Since our units are issued with a CCC, we have to install some form of toilet whether it be gravity-fed or with a macerator.

No. We install toilets with either a macerator or a gravity-fed plumbing system. Due to NZ Building Code laws, we must install an acceptable toilet for the unit to comply with and meet NZ Building Code Standards. Composting toilets do not comply with the NZ Building Code, so we do not supply them.

We do not offer solar as an option as the installation needs to be done by a proper technician and is also very site-specific - they must face the right direction etc.
We are also unable to transport solar panels with our units. We advise our customers to go to market and find the best solution once the unit is delivered. Many customers have installed solar. We do not install 12-volt cables or componentry.

Yes, there are customisation options available as part of the purchase process. You can choose your exterior paint colour, joinery colour, benchtop material, vinyl, and carpet to personalise your unit.

HouseMe operates with a high-volume, standardised manufacturing approach, allowing us to keep prices competitive and lead times short. Keeping core specifications consistent also ensures quality control and minimises errors.

For larger units, we offer some flexibility for minor modifications, such as:

  • Altering the floor plan
  • Adding an extra slider
  • Installing additional power points
  • Repositioning the ensuite to the other side of the unit
  • Cooking upgrades

Please note that customisations beyond standard options may increase costs and extend delivery timeframes. If you have specific requests, our team can discuss what’s possible within our production model.

Yes! As part of the purchasing process, you can select your exterior paint and joinery colour combination, benchtop, vinyl, and carpet style to suit your preference.

The interior paint colour is standard and cannot be changed, but there are plenty of upgrade options available, including extra sliders, barn doors, black hardware, and gas cooking upgrades, allowing you to personalise your home further.

There is commercial grade carpet in the prefab units, and in the wet areas (kitchen and bathroom) industrial strength vinyl floor covering. If you want to make changes please let us know and we can discuss the options available. There is the option to have vinyl throughout.

HouseMe bathrooms are designed to be modern, functional, and well-equipped, ensuring you have everything you need in a compact and efficient space.

Standard Bathroom Features:

Each bathroom includes:

  • A 900 x 900mm shower unit for a comfortable showering experience
  • A standard flush toilet (fitted with a macerator pump for efficient waste management)
  • A vanity unit with a basin and under-cupboard storage
  • A mirror cabinet for extra storage and convenience
  • A towel ring and toilet roll holder
  • An extractor fan to maintain airflow and reduce moisture buildup

Additional Features in Deluxe Units:

If you opt for a Deluxe unit, you’ll also get:

  • Space for a washing machine within the bathroom layout in 'end bathroom' units or the three-bedroom.
  • Additional cabinetry for extra storage

Accessibility & Customisation Options:

  • Wet floor shower configuration is available for improved accessibility, making it suitable for individuals with mobility challenges.
  • Accessibility handles can be installed in the shower upon request to enhance safety.
  • If you require gravity-fed plumbing, we can configure this, but it must be specified at the time of ordering.

Heated Towel Rail Placement:

  • Centralised bathrooms (located near the middle of the unit) typically come with a heated towel rail for added comfort.
  • End bathrooms (positioned at one end of the unit) do not include a heated towel rail, as there is not enough suitable space for installation.

Our bathrooms are designed to be efficient, stylish, and adaptable, ensuring they meet a wide range of needs while maintaining quality and functionality.

Yes, all HouseMe units come with cooking facilities, with options depending on the unit size:

  • Standard units are fitted with a surface-mounted twin electric hob, providing a compact and efficient cooking solution.
  • Larger Deluxe units come equipped with a full-size oven and a 4-burner electric hob for those who need more cooking capability.

Gas Conversion Option:

  • Both the twin hob and full-size oven setups can be converted to gas for an additional fee.
  • If converted to gas, your unit will only require a 16-amp power supply, reducing overall electrical demand. Three-Bedroom Homes will always stay 32 amps.

Induction Cooking:

  • Induction hobs are not available as they draw too much power for the typical setup of a transportable home.

If you have specific cooking preferences, our team can help configure a solution that best suits your needs.

HouseMe units are designed for easy and safe electrical connection, but you will need a qualified electrician to set up the power supply on-site.

Power Connection Requirements:

  • You’ll need an outdoor caravan round-pin power point installed by an electrician, with the choice of either 16-amp or 32-amp capacity.
  • Each unit comes with a 15-meter caravan-type extension lead for connection. If a longer lead is required, please let us know at the time of ordering.

Compliance & Certification:

  • Upon delivery, your unit will come with an Electrical Certificate and a Warrant of Electrical Fitness (WoEF), ensuring it meets all safety and regulatory standards.

Important Considerations for Deluxe Units:

  • Deluxe units typically require a 32-amp connection for full electrical functionality.
  • If you choose a gas cooking upgrade, the power requirement drops to 16 amps, as gas appliances reduce overall electrical demand.

Our team can provide further guidance on power requirements to ensure a seamless setup at your site.

Yes, but the changes you are able to make are limited. We apply a standardised approach to manufacturing which helps us build the units efficiently, at an affordable price. You can add in and remove certain components. Once your order has been placed, no additional changes can be made. This will incur an additional cost and may result in your unit dropping down the queue.
