What happens if you go bust?
It’s a fair question — and one we're occasionally asked. The building industry in New Zealand has seen many small, undercapitalised operators collapse in recent years, especially in the tiny home space.
HouseMe is built very differently.
We’ve been in business for over 18 years and are now New Zealand’s largest transportable home builder. We operate from a purpose-built factory in South Auckland, with multiple show home locations across the country and have successfully built and delivered 5500+ homes.
We’re privately owned and operated, and importantly, we carry no business loans or high-risk debt.
We only take a small deposit and carry all of the financial risk during the build. We don’t take progress payments. Every customer order is assigned a unique unit number, giving full traceability from the factory floor to delivery.
We never deliver a home without receiving full payment first — meaning we don’t end up in financial strife if a customer fails to pay their balance.
Every HouseMe home is built under a full Building Consent and issued with a Code Compliance Certificate (CCC), so your home remains legally recognised, certified, and insurable — regardless of what happens to the company.
And behind it all is an incredible team of high-calibre people who take real pride in what they do. You can meet them here
