Need short-term accommodation in Auckland? Rent a cabin!

Accommodation in and near Auckland is in short supply, and if you can find somewhere it's likely to be expensive and requires you to sign a 12 months contract. This isn't ideal if you only want something for 6 months while you wait for circumstances to change or if you're on a waiting list for a family home.

If you have a family member or friend that owns a property and has a little bit of land then you might be able to benefit from a short-term rental cabin. HouseMe's range of cabins for rent in Auckland means we can deliver a one or two bedroom cabin to you for 6 months or more. This can be perfect if you only need temporary accommodation in Auckland. Our range of rental cabins are easy to maintain and only require a small amount of land like a back yard.

Our transportable homes are delivered by an experienced operator, who will manoeuvre it into position. If you think you have space in your backyard, we can probably fit one of our portable cabins in!

Rental cabin requirements

Our rental cabins are a great and flexible way for you to find short-term accommodation in and around Auckland. You can find our exact rental zones here, sadly we can't rent outside of this zone as we need to conduct inspections and be able to respond to you with a visit if required. So what's required when you rent a cabin with us?


You are required to have the permission of the landowner before applying to rent a unit from us.


No consents are required for a short-term rental unit as the unit will be removed in the future. The units are not fixed to anything and can simply be taken away when they are no longer needed.

Minimum Hire Period

6 Months - We have no maximum hire period for our transportable houses, some of our customers have had them for years!

Transport Costs

We will quote Transport & set-up costs from our South AKL factory to your place separately. The site address for the unit must be supplied so we can estimate delivery costs.


No bond is required as the unit itself is used as bond. You are required to pay the first week's rent in advance and your transport fee will also need to be paid before the cabin is delivered. We do hold a cleaning bond of $300, which is returned if it's not required.

On Delivery

When we deliver the unit we connect the waste water setup for you.

All you need to do is plug in the 15m Electrical lead (supplied) and run your garden hose to the unit connection. Electrical lead requires a 16 amp electrical supply outlet.

Notice of cancellation

We need 4 weeks' notice (over phone is fine) and once that time is up we will come and collect the unit.

Can cabin rentals be bought? (rent to buy)
